Teal at Raglan Shire Artwalk 2015

Raglan Shire in Second Life holds its 9th Annual Artwalk festival.  More than 100 artists show every year over 4 sims with real life and virtual works of art. I show three sculptures there this year - one in Heron Shire, one in Athen Shire, and one in Morning Shire.  Visit this amazing show that I was honored to organize for 5 of its years.

Installation @ Two Shores Gallery SL - July/August 2013

I have been invited to show in July & August 2013 at Two Shores Gallery of Fine Art - Sky Annex. I rarely get a chance to show such a big work in SL due to space and prim limits. "Gift of the Goddess" is the installation. Opening Reception is Sat 7/6/13 at 2 pm SLT.

Raglan Shire Artwalk 2013 - Second Life

Once again I am organizing this enormous and fabulous art festival in Second Life, my fifth time as Artwalk Director. Looking forward to the massive outpouring of creativity that this festival always brings.

RAGLAN SHIRE ARTWALK 2013
May 5-27, 2013 - Raglan Shire Sim Cluster in Second Life

*** REGISTRATION OPENS ONLINE: Monday, April 7th at noon SLT
*** REGISTRATION CLOSES: Sunday, April 29th at 9 pm SLT
Full information and registration online at: https://sites.google.com/site/raglanshireartwalk/Home

Raglan Shire is hosting its 8th ArtWalk in May 2013. A 3-week long, multi-sim art festival, it is one of the art highlights of SL. Residents of Second Life may show their artwork during this time.  Reproductions of RL artwork (see definition in the requirements online) that can be imported and put on a prim are encouraged, along with SL artwork including virtual photography and sculpture.

Each year we have had over 100 artist participants exhibiting in spaces over 2 sims. This year, we hope for a good turnout and will include space in the vast center park of Raglan Shire, Heron Shire forest, and in other sims as needed. 2D artwork will be displayed along hedgerows around Raglan Shire and sculptures on Heron Shire sims. The Raglan Shire Sim Cluster is PG. Artworks need to fit PG standards.

Gallery Freenote Relocating to InWorldz

Hello Dear Friends! In two weeks, I am closing my Second LifeGallery.  I am creating all my works over in InWorldz now and have huge space to both create and to show my work, and its very expensive in SL. It seems ridiculous to keep maintaining such an expensive space when all my creative energy is being funneled on another grid for much less expense and much more creative freedom.  So if you want one last visit to Gallery Freenote in SL, now is the time.

Please visit Gallery Freenote in InWorldz and my sculpture garden SIM (yes a whole sim) Dreamsinger Sculpture Isle in the InWorldz grid. Its an exciting place for artists, and an exciting time there as the grid will come out of beta around the first of the year.

I will continue to exhibit in other festivals and galleries in SL, but my main location will now be InWorldz. I have an exhibiton coming in March 2013 at Mathilde Vhargon's Two Shores Gallery in SL.

Thank you all for your support, kind words, and patronage. Much love to you all.

Sculpture 46: "Mono no aware"

The meaning of the Japanese phrase "mono no aware" basically refers to a “pathos” (aware) of “things” (mono), deriving from their transience. The acceptance and celebration of impermanence goes beyond all morbidity, and enables full enjoyment of life.

This work has been created for an exhibition at the renovated Vista Hermosa Art Center (VHAC) in SL called "Sketches of Spain". It will be on display there beginning June 2012 for several months.

It was also featured near the main stage on the InWorldz Grid at the InWorldz Dance On- Dance Off Event mid-June to early July 2012. Now moved to the second level of Gallery Freenote InWorldz.

Psst - it moves - its two 2D images and a kinetic sculpture.

Raglan Artwalk 2012 Opens Sunday

Raglan Shire Artwalk 2012
Once again, Artwalk is about to begin. As Artwalk Director for the 4th year, I have been a busy tiger for several months. I am looking forward to the opening this year and all the wonderful creativity that will be on display.

The Raglan Shire ArtWalk 2012 opens Sunday May 6th, displaying the works of 147 artists over four sims in an outdoor setting in Second Life.  The show runs from May 6th through May 27th.

Artists gridwide converge to exhibit their RL photography and artwork and SL photography and sculpture in this annual arts festival, hosted by the tiny community of the Raglan Shire sim cluster.

2D art of all kinds is exhibited along the hedgerows in the central area of Raglan Shire sim. SL sculptural works are exhibited among the trees and along the shores of the western half of Heron Forest in Heron Shire sim, in the parks on Morning Shire and Raglan Commons sim.  A special ArtWalk Retrospective is located in the Raglan Tree Gallery.  TP kiosks to the display locations are throughout the grounds of the festival.

A few of the many artists exhibiting are Sledge Roffo, Van Caerndow, Corcosman Voom, Cat Boccaccio, Betty Rogan, briawinde Magic, StarZ33 McCullough, Gleman Jun, Nessuno Myoo, Teal Freenote, Kicca Igaly, Revontuli Oh, Kicca Igaly and Carlotta Ceawlin.

Avatars of all shapes and sizes are welcome to visit the show during May and enjoy wandering these enchanting sims dedicated to tiny avatars.

Sculpture 43: "Kintsugi" by Teal Freenote

"Kintsugi" (Japanese for golden joinery) is the Japanese art of fixing broken pottery with a lacquer resin sprinkled with powdered gold.

"When the Japanese mend broken objects, they aggrandize the damage by filling the cracks with gold. They believe that when something's suffered damage and has a history, it becomes more beautiful."

Sculpture 37: "The Way Through"

I have always been entranced by that old illustration, variously titled Flummarion or Universum - supposedly of a man who reported finding the juncture between earth and the heavens, and having peeked through. Originally about astronomy, it also evokes spiritual feelings - breaking through the mundane to the spiritual level.

I took a few of the picturesI shot at Tsuki Mura, Edo Japan, InWorldz grid, and treated them a bit like woodblock prints. Less subtle than the real thing, but interesting. I will bring some of these photos to Gallery Freenote soon.

Sculpture 33: "Invitation"

Newest sculpture "Invitation" is now on exhibit in Gallery Freenote on the InWorldz grid, and in Gallery Freenote in SL.

It seems I am making goddesses now... its interesting how art surprises the artist. This is the third one that has appeared.
